ATLANTABELTLINE

Dynamic Exhibition Kicks off Saturday, September 8 with Performances through Sunday,
November 11


ATLANTA (August 29, 2012) -- Art on the Atlanta Beltlinereturns this fall as Atlanta’s
largest temporary public art exhibition, showcasing the work of new and returning,
established and emerging visual artists, performers, and musicians along nine miles of the
Atlanta BeltLine on both the east and west sides of town. The third annual Art on the Atlanta
BeltLine uses varied and dynamic art installations to draw the public onto some of the most
unique public spaces in the City of Atlanta, providing powerful new perspectives on the city
and its vibrant neighborhoods. The exhibition will open on Saturday, September 8, kicking
off with the Krewe of the Grateful Glutton’s Lantern Parade beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the
intersection of Lake Avenue / Irwin Street and the Eastside Trail. The two-month long
exhibition will feature free outdoor performances over seven weekends beginning Saturday,
September 15 through Sunday, November 11.


The exhibition showcases how art strengthens and beautifies current and former industrial
areas and creates signature spaces exemplifying the transformation of the city through the
Atlanta BeltLine.This year’s exhibition also celebrates the opening of the Eastside Trail, the
new 2.25-mile long multi-use path connecting Piedmont Park to Virginia Highland,
Poncey-Highlands, Old Fourth Ward, and Inman Park, which will be officially dedicated on
October 15. Art on the Atlanta BeltLine touches almost 20 intown communities.

Saturday, September 8

o Location: The intersection of Lake Ave / Irwin Street and the Eastside
Trail
o Starting at 7:30 pm: Tailgating for the Lantern Parade with an 8:30 pm
parade start walking to Park Tavern in Piedmont Park; Imaginary Menagerie
will join with puppets.


Sunday, September 9
o Starting at 3 pm: Artists’ Panel at Park’s Edge restaurant in Inman Park
o Starting at 6 pm in southwest Atlanta: Crossover Movement Arts: Your
Footsteps Bring Life I: Emergence; Dojo Collective: In the Land of Wanderers

Saturday, September 15
o Location: Reynoldstown Stage in southeast Atlanta behind the Lofts at
Reynoldstown Crossing
o Starting at 6:45 pm: Spiral of Sound Crystal Bowl Choir: Stop, Look,
Listen; Trevor Jones and The Collective Project: Prometheus the Fire;
Klimchak: Lebeato Lounge


Sunday, September 16
o Location: On the Eastside Trail where Angier Springs dead-ends off of
Somerset Terrace
o Starting at 6 pm: Priscilla Smith: Beyond My Wildest Dreams [walking
the Eastside Trail from Angier Springs to north of N. Highland Ave.]; Christ,
Lord: TANZPLATZ [north of N. Highland Ave.]


Saturday, September 29
o Location: Gordon White Park in southwest Atlanta at the intersection of
Ralph David Abernathy Blvd and White Street
o Starting at 7 pm: Taranji Alvarado: Community… A Sound Creation;
Wade Tilton: Ghost/Train; Klimchak: Lebeato Lounge


Sunday, September 30
o Location: Gordon White Park in southwest Atlanta at the intersection of
Ralph David Abernathy Blvd and White Street
o Starting at 6:30 pm: Kebbi Williams and Strings: Music in the Park;
Santiago Paramo and Amy Pursifull: S.O.N.I.C.; Imaginary Menagerie will
join with puppets; Eyedrum will have a continuous performance: Free Poetry
on Demand.


Sunday, October 7
o Location: Piedmont Park expansion on the corridor behind the Atlanta
Botanical Garden
o Starting at 5:00 pm: Spiral of Sound Crystal Bowl Choir: Stop, Look,

o Location: On the Eastside Trail underneath the Virginia Avenue bridge

Artist submissions have increased by more than 40% since Art on the Atlanta BeltLine
launched in 2010. This year, 74 visual and performance pieces were selected to become part
of the exhibit from among 181 proposals.
