AFFORDABLE WORKFORCE HOUSING
Housing Opportunity Fund

In 2004, Mayor Shirley Franklin established a goal of creating 10,000 units of affordable workforce housing by 2009. To assist in accomplishing this endeavor, the City of Atlanta, the Atlanta Housing Authority and Invest Atlanta have partnered together to implement a new $75 million workforce housing initiative for persons and families who desire to reside in the City of Atlanta. The program has already received unanimous support from City Council, the Atlanta Housing Authority Board and Invest Atlanta Board of Directors and anticipates a bond closing in mid April, 2007.

We are very hopeful that ADA/URFA will be able to begin implementation of various components of the program by mid to late May, 2007. The single family mortgage assistance program will be the first initiative that will be implemented as we are getting very close to finalizing the structure. The staff here at ADA/URFA will be conducting periodic information sessions with builders, developers, non-profits and CHDO’s as we continue to work toward developing guidelines and implementing the other various program components. Please continue to check our website for program implementation updates. In addition please be sure to provide us your contact information at pulseofprogress@investatlanta.com to ensure that you are notified of the program information sessions.

Thank you for your interest in the Housing Opportunity Program and we look forward to working with you in the future.
