Incentives Provided by Invest Atlanta

City of Atlanta Economic Opportunity Fund – This Invest Atlanta administered deal-closing fund supports the growth of targeted industries in the City of Atlanta.  Invest Atlanta uses the fund to recruit and retain businesses resulting in job retention and creation.  This discretionary fund is structured on a project by project basis based upon criteria such as job retention and creation in the City of Atlanta, financial strength of the business, and amount of business investment in the project.

Job Tax Credits – The City of Atlanta has several locations in “less developed census tracts.” This qualifies businesses locating in a less developed census tract for a $3,500 per employee credit against state corporate income taxes for 5 years. Credits may also be taken against a company's income tax withholding. (The maximum use of the tax credit against withholding is $3,500 per job regardless of any additional credit claimed.

Regional Economic Business Assistance (REBA) – Used to enhance Georgia’s competitiveness in attracting significant economic development projects that involve public land acquisition and site development, public infrastructure improvements, publicly owned machinery and equipment, and publicly owned/privately leased fixed assets and machinery and equipment.  The amount of funds available varies per project and must be applied for with the assistance of an economic development project manager.

Employee Recruitment and Training Assistance – The Atlanta Workforce Development Agency (“AWDA”) brings businesses, job seekers, and training providers together to provide skilled workers for every business.  The AWDA can assist with employee recruitment, job fairs, customized training, and on-the-job training.  In addition to the AWDA, the State of Georgia offers the Quick Start program that develops and delivers customized training at no charge to eligible new, expanding and existing companies.

Permitting Assistance – Invest Atlanta can act as an advocate for developers or tenants in their permitting approval process with appropriate City departments.  Invest Atlanta can help clarify the process to obtain a permit and make connections between the client and the appropriate department to help expedite the process.
