Community Development Special Projects Intern

The intern will be assigned to assist professional staff providing administrative, and business support to various teams within the Community Development Department.  The Community Development Department is focused on, increasing homeownership in the city of Atlanta, serving as a catalyst to providing long-term affordable workforce housing, and preserving existing housing for decades to come.  The Department also strives to continually strengthen its monitoring and reporting functions, measuring the performance of its initiatives, programs, and services; and enforcing compliance applicable program requirements.  Invest Atlanta‚Äôs growth, progress and vision offers an outstanding opportunity for an intern who wants to further enhance their technical skills and business acumen while contributing to a positive and lasting change in the community.  

The intern will report directly to the Single Family / Homeownership Director.   

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting the Community Development Homeownership efforts. More specifically, as it relates to Owner Occupied Rehab (OOR)
  • Support in the pre-closing process by generating documents, scheduling closing meetings and extend support in the requisition process
  • Monitoring and addressing OOR support requests


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Student must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications with special emphasis on Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.   
  • Able to interact professionally and effectively with management, staff and other City personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.
  • Must have a keen attention to detail
  • Exhibits strong communication skills both written and verbally 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate, or graduate student.
  • Applicants must be available and willing to commit at least 2 months (until June 30, 2019) for the special projects internship or as determined by the Sr. VP of Community Development.
