Board Greenlights Invest Atlanta-WorkSource Atlanta Integration

At its November 2020 meeting, the Invest Atlanta Board of Directors approved the integration of WorkSource Atlanta into Invest Atlanta.

The integration aligns the City of Atlanta’s economic and workforce development strategy, programming, implementation, reporting and accountability under one agency. Not only will it create stronger outcomes for employers, residents and efficiencies for both agencies, it also advances the City’s overall economic growth and mobility goals.

According to Dr. Eloisa Klementich, President and CEO, Invest Atlanta, this is an important step to addressing persistent inequity and achieving better outcomes for Atlanta residents and is a key component of the recently released One Atlanta: Economic Mobility, Recovery and Resiliency Plan.

“The decision to bring together the City’s workforce development and economic development arms will ensure that Atlanta not only is attracting new business and creating more jobs, but also giving our residents the skills to access those jobs,” says Klementich. “For Atlanta, this is an important pathway toward equity and economic mobility.”

Bringing WorkSource Atlanta into Invest Atlanta was announced in June 2019 by Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms as part of her administration’s One Atlanta strategy, which includes providing greater access to good jobs.
