Anti-Displacement Tax Relief Fund Program to Serve More Atlanta Seniors

ATLANTA – March 24, 2026 – Invest Atlanta today announced it will provide critical property tax relief to additional senior residents this year through its Anti-Displacement Tax Relief Fund program. The program helps long-term residents remain in their homes by covering increases in property taxes above a homeowner’s base tax amount for up to 20 years, provided eligibility requirements continue to be met.

“The Anti-Displacement Tax Relief Fund is a powerful tool to help Atlanta’s legacy community remain in the areas and houses they helped build,” said Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. “Expanding this program allows us to reach more homeowners and reinforces our commitment to preserving communities and protecting residents from displacement.”

Demand for the program increased significantly in year two, underscoring the growing need for property tax relief among Atlanta’s senior homeowners. While funding limits prevented all qualified applicants from being admitted at that time, Invest Atlanta has since secured additional resources and prior-year applicants who were not selected will now be eligible for reconsideration. No new applications will be required. Invest Atlanta will re-review existing submissions using previously provided information.

“Our seniors should not have to choose between staying in their homes and keeping up with rising costs,” said Dr. Eloisa Klementich, President and CEO of Invest Atlanta. “Many of these homeowners, including our oldest recipient at 104 years young, have lived in their neighborhoods for decades, contributed to their growth, and helped shape the Atlanta we know today. We have a responsibility to listen, respond, and ensure that longtime residents can continue to live in their community and the homes they cherish.”

The Anti-Displacement Tax Relief Fund is supported by $14 million in private funding, including contributions from the Centennial Yards Housing Trust Fund, and is administered in partnership with FORWARD. Since the program’s launch in 2024, Invest Atlanta has approved 425 senior homeowners for the program, helping them manage rising housing costs. At the end of September 2025, the program paid over $30,000 in property tax relief, and over $40,000 the year before.

There will be no open application period for the general public in year three. Program efforts this year will focus on recertifying current participants and reviewing previously submitted applications. For program updates and additional information, visit www.investatlanta.com/taxrelief.
