A visible corner in the Historic Sweet Auburn District will soon be transformed into a neighborhood restaurant with help from an Eastside Tax Allocation District (TAD) Downtown Façade Improvement Grant approved by the Invest Atlanta Board.
Originally built in 1949 as Muckle’s Grill, the historic property located at 302 Auburn Avenue will be completely refurbished into a neighborhood eatery. The $200,000 grant will fund comprehensive renovations, including everything from restoring the existing building elevations and adding covered patio seating to installing new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as roofing, windows and landscaping.
This project not only helps to preserve Sweet Auburn’s cultural legacy, it also produces an amenity for the community with direct access to public transportation and the Atlanta Streetcar route.
