Grant Fund Incentivizes Middle Wage Job Creation

The City of Atlanta created the Middle Wage Job Economic Opportunity Fund to spur more middle wage job opportunities. As part of this effort, Invest Atlanta supports programs and job opportunities that empower and upskill residents, making them more eligible to receive a higher wage.

This Invest Atlanta Board approved two Middle Wage Job Grants for local organizations that offering training and certifications to help launch careers. Recipients include the Technology Career Program (TCP) by Techbridge and Technology Association of Georgia (TAG-ED) Atlanta City Resident’s Registered Tech Apprenticeship Program. Each organization received a $300,000 grant with their commitment to create 150 job opportunities over the next three years.

The Technology Career Program (TCP) by Techbridge offers free technology training and certifications to help individuals launch careers in the fast-growing tech and innovation sectors, specifically, security operations center (SOC) positions. With this grant, Techbridge is creating job opportunities for Atlanta residents once they have concluded its training program. These jobs will be paid at a middle wage salary and maintained for at least one year at this salary level, or greater.

TAG-ED ensures apprentices receive both industry-recognized credentials and a certified apprenticeship completion certificate. Unlike traditional pathways, each apprentice is hired prior to training, guaranteeing job placement, income stability and employer alignment from the start. With this grant, TAG-ED will create 150 middle-wage technology jobs that strengthen the city’s economic mobility, talent pipeline and competitiveness in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
