Invest Atlanta has once again been recognized as one of the world’s most respected economic development organizations, earning reaccreditation as an Accredited Economic Development Organization (AEDO) from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).
This milestone designation reaffirms Invest Atlanta’s place among an elite group of fewer than 100 accredited organizations around the world – and only 2% in the United States – reflecting its deep technical expertise, professionalism and unwavering commitment to driving equitable prosperity across Atlanta.
As part of the rigorous reaccreditation process, the IEDC review committee noted several Invest Atlanta initiatives as leading industry practices, including its:
- 2026-2030 Strategic Action Plan, citing it as one of the most comprehensive and well-structured plans the committee has evaluated.
- Affordable Housing Model, recognizing it as a national, best-in-class approach for advancing urban equity and inclusive growth.
- C-PACE and Peach State C-PACE programs, highlighting them as a model for scaling sustainable, clean-energy development at both the local and statewide levels.
“The review committee got a front-row seat to the sheer amount of effort, data collection and cross-departmental collaboration that we display on a daily basis,” says Alan Peterson, Ph.D., assistant director of Ecosystem Development at Invest Atlanta. “This designation reinforces our standing as the ‘tip of the spear’ for economic and community development in the City of Atlanta and globally.”
The reaccreditation keeps Invest Atlanta’s AEDO status active through May 2029.
