Relief Coming to Mechanicsville Retail Property Owner: $20,000 TAD Grant for Renovations

A $20,000 grant from the Stadium Tax Allocation District (TAD) will help rehabilitate a 4,280-square-foot, multiple-occupancy retail commercial property in the Mechanicsville neighborhood on Pryor Street, which was damaged by heavy rain in 2018.

Stadium TAD funds will be used for window replacement on the property, and insurance proceeds will cover the cost of roof and gutter replacement. The owner’s required 20% contribution, plus additional owner equity, will provide funding for a full interior rehabilitation of the three units, including replacing damaged drywall, ceiling tiles and flooring.

The owner also received Annie E. Casey NPU V Small Business Improvement Grant funds to paint the building’s exterior.

“We’re encouraged and excited about the uptick in these kinds of projects using TAD dollars to impact small businesses and small commercial redevelopment,” says Jennifer Fine, vice president of Planning & Strategic Initiatives for Invest Atlanta. “Word of mouth is raising awareness of this program, and people are tapping into this resource.”
