Transforming Grove Park

A $1 million forgivable loan from the Perry Bolton Tax Allocation District (TAD) will help the Grove Park Foundation acquire two properties along Donald Lee Holloway Parkway and spur continued economic development in the area.

Since 2014, the Grove Park Foundation has led the revitalization of the Grove Park neighborhood through affordable housing, economic development, health and education. Its milestones and successes include the construction of the Grove Park YMCA, KIPP Woodson Park Academy and Columbia Canopy at Grove Park.

Additional property is needed to continue implementing the neighborhood’s transformation plan and economic development activity along the Donald Lee Hollowell commercial corridor, which includes the development of The Corner – a Neighborhood-scaled, mix-use project; the Grove Park Performing Arts Center; and the Civic and Business Innovation Hub.

The property located at 1538 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy is a parcel immediately adjacent to the development of The Corner, which will include retail space for small businesses, a neighborhood banking center (in partnership with Fifth Third Bank), 24 affordable housing units for households earning 50% of the area median income and open greenspace.

The property located at 1740 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy will provide space to create a neighborhood business hub to cultivate civic and entrepreneurial resources for the neighborhood. The hub will feature dedicated spaces for civic organizations, including the Grove Park Neighborhood Association and NPU-J, and will house the Northwest Business Association, providing a base for the organization to host workshops and networking events. The hub will also offer general gathering and co-working space for other nonprofits, as well as offering essential resources for small businesses.
