Heirs Property Prevention & Resolution Initiative

The Atlanta Heirs Property Prevention & Resolution Initiative  supports families with either specialized estate planning services or assistance to residents who have inherited property without a clear title.

The newly created Initiative will have two distinct programs:

  • Heirs Property Prevention Services: provides estate planning and/or legal services to support the creation of wills, trusts, and other estate planning tools at no cost to the homeowner
  • Heirs Property Resolution Services: provide legal services to residents experiencing heirs property challenges and tangled titles at no cost to the homeowner

Both programs will work directly with vetted homeowners that have applied or received funding
from Invest Atlanta’s Heritage Owner Occupied Rehabilitation or Anti-Displacement Tax
Relief programs. Invest Atlanta currently has an extensive database of 2,000+ homeowners
who meet those criteria, in addition to a robust list of residents that were ineligible for
those services due to a lack of clear title or other heirs property challenges.
