For the Love of Clay

Molly Sanyour Ceramics Studio is more than a place to learn a new skill. It’s a gathering spot to make new connections, express your creativity and get your hands dirty.

Molly Sanyour fell in love with clay early in her childhood. In fact, she was the kid in elementary school who skipped recess to go to the art room and work on extra clay projects.

“I just love clay,” says Molly. “I like using my hands. And it's really an innate human characteristic to create.”

It wasn’t until Molly was in college did she learn that she could pursue art as a major and actually build a career using her creativity. Once that realization hit, she focused on ceramics and never looked back.

With dreams of opening her own Atlanta studio, Molly went online to explore ways to fund a new business, and Invest Atlanta appeared at the top of the search results. She clicked the link, learned more and found a great resource and support system.

Molly says Invest Atlanta walked her through each step to make her dream a reality. “As a former high school teacher, I used to tell my students to just turn something in. If you don't, you get a zero, but when you do, I can help you achieve more,” she explains. “Working with Invest Atlanta was very similar. I would turn something in, and they’d offer clarification or advise me on next steps. They really helped me one-on-one.”

With support from Invest Atlanta and the Atlanta Recovery Loan Fund program, Molly was able to build out her very own ceramics studio as a modern, community-driven hub for pottery lovers. Located in the heart of Adair Park, Molly Sanyour Ceramics Studio offers classes, workshops and even hosts events.

“Come out and just get your hands messy,” says Molly. “It's all about creativity, fun and community. And that's kind of what everybody needs right now is just some fun, creativity and unity.”
