Invest Atlanta and City of Atlanta Launch Atlanta-Toulouse Startup Exchange

Four companies – two based in Atlanta and two in France – will take part in the first Atlanta-Toulouse Startup Exchange, a two-week residency program that Invest Atlanta has launched along with the City of Atlanta and the City of Toulouse, France.

Atlanta-based Carbice Nanotechnologies and Partpic, Inc., as well as French startups Donecle and Uwinloc, are the participants in the program, which will provide support resources that help these businesses obtain investment capital, seek out export opportunities and develop a business plan for international expansion.

Invest Atlanta was instrumental in the development of the Startup Exchange, having led a trade mission to Toulouse last year that followed a City of Atlanta delegation visit to that city.

Executives from Carbice and Partpic will take their residency at the Airbus BizLab and the CapGemini Lab’innovation, where they’ll meet with French entrepreneurs as well as top European business sector officials, investors and executives. They’ll also attend emTech France 2016, an international conference that spotlights emerging technologies and brings startups together with global venture capitalists.

“Since the overwhelming majority of global consumers are outside the United States, businesses need to export to be successful,” explained Dr. Eloisa Klementich, President and CEO of Invest Atlanta. “The Startup Exchange will give Carbice and Partpic exposure to a critical mass of aerospace business innovators and a way to grow within Europe.”

In November, executives from Donecle and Uwinloc will fulfill their residencies at the Garage at Tech Square and engage in programs at the Atlanta Technology Development Corporation, Sandbox, and the Consulate General of France in Atlanta. They’ll also attend the annual Venture Atlanta Conference, an event that draws more than 1,000 visitors and has inspired more than $1.3 billion in startup investment since 2002.
