TAD Funds to Support Goodwill of North Georgia's New Career Center in Atlanta

The Invest Atlanta Board of Directors recently approved up to $150,000 from the Metropolitan Parkway TAD to support the construction of the Goodwill Job Training Center and Retail Store.

Goodwill of North Georgia will transform an empty parcel into a state-of-the-art Center for Workforce Innovation, consisting of a job training center and community space, alongside a  retail space. This will serve as Goodwill’s first career center within the City of Atlanta.

The Center for Workforce Innovation will work with local partner agencies to impact the economic mobility of southside Atlanta residents, meeting the increased demand for job training and placement services in high-growth sectors of the changing economy.

Goodwill’s job programs provide people who are having trouble finding work, those wanting to change careers in need of skill development, and people with disabilities with access to job training and career resources. The donated goods retail operation creates jobs for individuals with barriers to employment and subsidized employment options for job training program participants, resulting in connecting 8,000 individuals with employment each year.

This location will also create 50 full time and five part time positions, both professional and entry-level.
