The Invest Atlanta Board approved three tax allocation district (TAD) grants, totaling $7.5 million, which will be used to create affordable housing and further revitalize Downtown Atlanta.
1283 West
$3 million in Beltline TAD Increment will finance the new construction of 238 multifamily housing units in the Knight Park/Howell Station community – 72 of which will be affordable between 50%-80% of the area median income. Located on Marietta Boulevard near Shirley Clarke Franklin Park (formerly Westside Park), the 1283 West development will offer skyline views, approximately 7,500 square feet of retail space and serve as an anchor for the Atlanta Beltline.
1100 Ridge Ave.
$1.5 million in Beltline TAD Increment will finance the new construction of 46 multifamily housing units in the Peoplestown neighborhood. The development will be built on what is now a vacant lot located one block from the Atlanta Beltline. Seven of the housing units will be live-work and 29 will be made affordable between 50%-80% of the area median income.
Historic Broad Streetscape
A $3 million Eastside TAD grant will finance improvements to the streetscape and other public roadway infrastructure on South Broad Street in Downtown Atlanta. The Historic Broad Streetscape project reimagines three city blocks and 3,000 linear feet of South Broad Street as an active, safe and inviting public realm and will improve connections with MARTA’s Five Points and Garnett stations.
In addition to enhancements to landscape and vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, construction will include flexible-use features, such as moveable planters, that allow for occasional street closures. This will support programming around large stadium events and community festivals, creating a vibrant activity center for the South Downtown neighborhood.
