Mayor Kasim Reed, Council Member Andrew Dickens, Invest Atlanta President and CEO Eloisa Klementich came together at the December 5 board meeting to bid a fond farewell to Anna Foote.
A board member since 2008, Anna was recognized for exemplifying what being a true community leader is all about. During her tenure Invest Atlanta went through an unprecedented period of organizational and economic growth, creating 26,478 jobs since 2010.
Anna received the city’s highest accolade, the Phoenix Award, from Mayor Reed for her “professional and relentless” service to Atlanta. Councilman Dickens presented her with a City Council Proclamation, which he read aloud, and Dr. Klementich presented Anna with a token of appreciation on behalf of Invest Atlanta staff.
After receiving several standing ovations, Anna said that while her retirement from the board is bittersweet, she is confident Invest Atlanta’s work will continue.
“The city is in the hands of amazing people,” said Anna.
Throughout her time on the board, Anna has been a passionate advocate for job creation and community revitalization. Anna always went beyond the call of duty, dedicating herself to improve Invest Atlanta’s financial stability, clarity of purpose, and accountability. She brought a deep well of knowledge and experience to the board gained during her distinguished career in nonprofit management, philanthropy, and community activism.
In addition, Anna provided a voice for those in Atlanta who have the least, making her fellow board members and Invest Atlanta staff all the more aware of how the organization can have a positive impact on each and every Atlanta resident. Her legacy will be felt for many years to come.
Anna’s work on behalf of the City of Atlanta will continue following her retirement from the board. As Executive Deputy Director of Administration at HOPE Atlanta, she’ll still be working hard to provide a comprehensive safety net for thousands of metro Atlanta residents in need. Earlier this year, she took on an important leadership role as the Board Chair of the Little Five Points Community Improvement District.
