Invest Atlanta is helping to power Atlanta's clean energy future one building at a time.
As administrator of the City’s Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) program, Invest Atlanta enables the use of private capital to help commercial property owners invest in energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy and resiliency improvements. Recognized for its innovation and impact, the program supports Atlanta's goal of reaching 100% clean energy by 2035 by providing 100% upfront financing for energy and resilience upgrades for commercial properties.
Continuing this commitment to environmental sustainability, the Invest Atlanta Board approved a fixed interest rate for C-PACE financing for three additional Atlanta properties – helping The Center, The Westin Peachtree Plaza and Pullman Yards incorporate high-efficiency building measures. Combined, sustainable upgrades to these developments will reduce CO2 emissions in Atlanta by more than 33 million pounds each year.
The Center
CP Group is transforming the Atlanta landmark formerly known as the CNN Center, which includes four interconnected office buildings centered on an enclosed retail atrium near Centennial Park. Leveraging $60 million in private C-PACE financing, the developer is incorporating energy efficiency upgrades, water proofing, lighting improvements and a digital signage buildout, which will result in more than $3.4 million in annual energy and water cost savings, along with an estimated elimination of over 31 million pounds of CO2 emissions each year.
The Westin Peachtree Plaza
Developer Portman Holdings is utilizing $65 million in private C-PACE financing for the comprehensive renovation of the iconic 73-story, 1,073-room Westin Peachtree Plaza located on Peachtree Street. Efficiency upgrades to this convention-oriented hotel are projected to deliver nearly $250,000 in annual energy and water cost savings, while eliminating more than 2 million pounds of CO2 emissions each year.
Pullman Yards
Using $10 million in private C-PACE financing, Atomic Entertainment Development, LLC is installing energy efficiency, water conservation and resilience upgrades as part of its ongoing redevelopment of the historic Pullman Yards. The financing covers both new installations and retroactive improvements, including EV charging infrastructure in the 142,000-square-foot parking deck. Collectively, these enhancements are expected to generate more than $23,000 in annual energy and water cost savings.
