Last month, Invest Atlanta’s business attraction team talked up Atlanta’s thriving healthcare information technology businesses and innovation to attendees at the 2016 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas.
Each year, HIMSS hosts more than 40,000 health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world at this event, and Invest Atlanta was there to ensure that companies considering relocation knew about the benefits of moving to Atlanta. Indeed, many industry leaders who come to the annual HIMSS gathering, including Athena health, Salesforce and IBM, already have a presence in the City of Atlanta. According to Healthcare Informatics’ 2014 survey of the biggest healthcare IT companies in America, Atlanta companies in this space had cumulative revenues of almost $4 billion.
Invest Atlanta was a key member of the delegation from the Innovation Crescent Regional Partnership (ICRP) that came to the conference and exhibition and had a booth on the convention floor in the State of Georgia Pavilion. Georgia companies, including PatientCo, SynsorMed and Azalea Health, also exhibited with the Georgia Pavilion. In fact, Georgia was the only state that had space in the exhibition area.
