New Joint Venture to Increase Skills, Wages for H&F Bread Company Employees

As a catalyst for growth, Invest Atlanta has established a joint venture between the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency and H&F Bread Company for a job creation and training program. Under this agreement, AWDA and H&F will fund training for H&F employees in the company’s new processes for making high-quality, artisanal bread. In addition, AWDA will assist in recruiting new employees for H&F’s growing operations.

The six-month training program, intended for new and existing H&F employees, begins this month and will see participating employees obtain progressively higher wages as they increase their skills and mastery of advanced baking equipment. The current approximate wage scale of $10 to $12 per hour will grow to roughly $18 per hour.

AWDA’s training partnership coincides with H&F’s move from its present Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard location in northwest Atlanta to a new state-of-the-art manufacturing site on Marietta Street. H&F, which serves customers from Maine to the West Coast, will open its new 80,000 square foot facility to the public and provide a glass viewing area where visitors can see how its bread items are made.

AWDA, a key partner of Invest Atlanta, is the City of Atlanta’s workforce training and recruitment agency, furnishing job seekers with resources to obtain sustainable employment and helping businesses meet their labor training, development and staffing needs.
