The Invest Atlanta team joined leaders from oaksATL, Peace Preparatory Academy and other community members for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of a neighborhood-scale, mixed-use development on Lindsay Street.
With funding support from a Westside Tax Allocation District (TAD) grant, what was once a dilapidated, absentee landlord property has been transformed into a community-focused oaksATL development featuring six affordable housing units, along with ground floor, retail and office space.
oaksATL is a nonprofit development entity associated with Peace Preparatory Academy in the English Avenue neighborhood. Together they support low-income families holistically through access to quality education and safe, affordable housing in close proximity to parks and employment. Housed in the Lindsay Street Baptist Church directly across from the development, Peace Preparatory Academy serves school-aged children from pre-K through fifth grade.
This new development expands oaksATL's ongoing commitment to providing affordable housing in English Avenue. In 2020, the organization renovated 31 affordable multifamily units in three buildings with financing assistance from the Westside TAD Community Improvement Fund.
