Invest Atlanta Receives Top National Economic Development Award

Site Selection Magazine recently honored Invest Atlanta with a Mac Conway Award for Excellence in Economic Development.

The Award is named after Site Selection founding publisher H. McKinley "Mac" Conway, and recognizes the top local and regional economic development agencies in the U.S. for their roles in helping to deliver prosperity to their communities.

Invest Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber were recognized for their joint efforts on major business attraction wins such as Norfolk Southern and Blackrock. The Creative Industries Loan Fund was also mentioned as an innovative new economic development program for the City of Atlanta.

“Locations throughout the US and in every region of the world compete aggressively for direct investment at home and from abroad,” said Site Selection Editor in Chief Mark Arend. “Those appearing on these rankings have demonstrated with actual project numbers and other measures that they have the location attributes most in demand by capital investors.”

This year’s Mac Conway Award winners have been determined by an index that examines 2018 corporate facility investment projects in U.S. metro areas as tracked by Site Selection’s proprietary Conway Projects Database, part of the Conway Analytics toolbox. Scores are awarded based on six criteria: total projects, total investment associated with those projects and jobs associated with those projects. The remaining three criteria represent a per capita calculation of those same metrics.

“Atlanta is a fantastic market for world-class talent, and we’re thrilled to grow our presence in the region,” said Warren Wick, EVP Commercial Sales of Salesforce.
