Invest Atlanta Advances New Affordable Housing Developments

The Invest Atlanta Board approved modifications to two resolutions supporting the development of affordable senior housing in Downtown Atlanta.

Backed by Tax Allocation District (TAD) grant funding, The Sanctuary and Five Peachtree Senior will deliver 148 affordable housing units for Atlanta’s growing senior population. The Sanctuary reflects ongoing efforts to partner with faith-based institutions to create affordable housing on underutilized church properties, while Five Peachtree Senior is part of the broader transformation around 2 Peachtree.

The Sanctuary

An additional $1 million from the Eastside TAD Ascension Fund will support the redevelopment and new construction of senior housing units on the campus of Trinity United Methodist Church. Located in Downtown Atlanta on Washington Street, The Sanctuary will replace the fellowship hall on the west end of the property with a new structure featuring 83 housing units available at 30%-80% area median income (AMI). The historic sanctuary on the east side of the property will be restored and repurposed as an event space while allowing the church to continue hosting worship services.

Five Peachtree Senior

A $2 million Eastside TAD Ascension Fund Grant along with a 650,000 Eastside TAD Grant are helping to fund a senior living redevelopment in the Five Peachtree building across the street from the 2 Peachtree tower. The project will feature 65 housing units ranging in affordability from 30%-80% AMI for senior residents 62 years and older.
